Additional information

Potassium 2-methylbutan-2-olate shows rapid hydrolysis into potassium hydroxide (CAS No. 1310-58-3) and 2-methylbutan-2-ol (CAS No. 75-85-4) in the presence of water. For both substances, REACh dossiers are available on the dissemination homepage of ECHA. Potassium hydroxide is an inorganic substance and will further dissociate in water. Therefore, the organic hydrolysis product 2-methylbutan-2-ol is the relevant substance regarding biodegradation. According to the disseminated dossier, 2-Methylbutan-2-ol showed moderate biodegradation and was well eliminated.
