Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
adverse effect observed (sensitising)
Additional information:

One study performed on analogue substance 2 (BASF, 2010) following OECD 429 shows that the substance is a skin sensitizer.

Based on the read across considerations the same results aplly to Basic Violet 1 Acetate that is considered to be a skin sensitizer.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
Analogue substance, LLNA, sensitizing

Justification for selection of skin sensitisation endpoint:
GLP and guideline compliant study.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to CLP Regulation, For Category 1, a stimulation index of three or more is considered a positive response in the local lymph node assay. The substance shows a SI >3. Moreover, following Table 3.4.3 the EC3<2% for the LLNA test, which corresponds to a classification of Category 1A H317: May cause an allergic skin reaction.
