Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Basic Violet 1 Acetate is produced and put on the market in acetic aqueous solution and cannot be isolated in a solid powder form. The solubility of Basic Violet 1 Acetate is increased by the presence of an high quantity of free acetic acid that by solvent evaporation would crystalize in a solid form.

The analysed sample contains ca. 40% of the dye dissolved in the acetic aqueous solution and therefore the solubility of the dye in the commercial sample is ca. 400 g/l.

The analogue substance 1 was tested for water solubility following OECD 105 and resulted equal to 74.28 g/l at pH=4.37.

The analogue substance 2 was tested for water solubility following OECD 105 and resulted equal to 374 g/l at 20°C.

Based on these considerations (and the read across document) the solubility of Basic Violet 1 Acetate is expected to be > 74.28 g/l and < 400 g/l (commercial product), where the upper limit is also justified by the value determined on analogue substance 2.
