Description of key information
Additional information
In a previsional study based on structure (EPIWEB 4.00) some physical chemical properties has been calculated for the singular Fatty acid methyl ester, with fatty chainlenght C14, C16, C16 ins., C18, C18 ins.
To identify theorically the structure C14 -C16 and C16 -C18 ins. we approssimated the mean value out of all 5 and to theorically identify C16 -C18 and C18 ins. we approssimated the mean value only for chainlenght C16, C18 and C18 ins. and we compared the previsional values for the same end point:
Methyl Myristate | Methyl Palmitate | Mehtyl exadecenoate | Methyl Sterate | Methyl Oleate | Fatty acids C14-C18 and 16-C18 unstd., mehtyl ester | Fatty acids, C16-C18 and C18 unstd., methyl ester | |
Melting point °C | 35.85 | 63.16 | 53.61 | 81.59 | 80.09 | 62.86 | 74.94666667 |
Boiling °C | 296.5 | 324.49 | 328.48 | 348.99 | 352.56 | 330.204 | 342.0133333 |
Kow | 7.07 | 7.25 | 7.03 | 8.23 | 8.02 | 7.52 | 7.833333333 |
Water Solubility | 0.087 | 0.09 | 0.018 | 0.00092 | 0.005588 | 0.0403016 | 0.032169333 |
We found that the values have not a significative difference, influencing the assessment of any physical chemical end point. Taking into account that sperimentally we find a distribution of values arount the median value provided for C16 -C18, C18 ins., we don't expect that the range will change substantially. Therefore we used for physical-chemical end points the measured values of C16 -C18, C18 ins.
Physical and chemical properties doesn't reveal any hazard. The substance is a high boiling liquid, insoluble, very stable, with low density and very low vapour pressure; not flammable, nor explosive, not oxidising.
