No data are available for phototransformation in water. This is not expected to be a significant removal process for the parent substance or the silanol hydrolysis product.
Experiments carried out for dimethylsilanediol indicate that water soluble small molecule silanols may undergo aqueous photolytic oxidative demethylation with tropospheric ultraviolet radiation in the presence of suitable chromophores, such as nitrogen oxides, to give silicic acid and carbon dioxide (Buch et al., 1984).
Whilst such degradation is possible for the silanol hydrolysis product of the registration substance, it is not taken into account in the exposure assessment.
