Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

OECD QSAR Toolbox prediction: LC50: 383 mg/L drinking water (C. japonica)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The toxicity towards Japanese Quail (Coturnix japonica) of the test substance was determined by the OECD QSAR Toolbox v2.1 (Chemservice S.A., 2012) since no experimental results are available. The prediction was based on read-across grouping, whereby the chemicals in the category should possess similar chemical structure, organic functional groups and the same mechanism/mode of action regarding toxicity to birds. The classification of the target chemical was "Esters, Esters (phosphates)" using the profiling method "Aquatic toxicity classification by ECOSAR". A categorization research was performed, delivering structurally similar chemical with related organic functional groups of 15 chemicals with 80 data points on acute toxicity to birds. Some of the category members are phosphates, while the target chemical is a phosphonate. As result, a LC50 value of 383 mg/L is reported. Utilization of the modelling tool is a scientifically accepted procedure, where no GLP criteria can be applied. Therefore the result is reliable with restrictions (Klimisch 2) and can be taken into account for the chemical safety assessment.
