Due to the poor water solubility, yet rapid hydrolysis of the test item, test solutions for aquatic toxicity testing had to be prepared following a special protocol. For all reported key studies the test item was mixed with dilution water at a relatively high nominal loading rate of 10 g/L, followed by vigorous stirring at 37 ± 2 °C for 7 days. This was done to maximise concentrations of the test material, hence generating a solution of several, largely non-identifiable, breakdown products. The determination of the effect concentrations was based on the geometric mean of total dissolved test material, calculated from the measured concentrations of the identifiable breakdown product at the beginning and at the end of the test, or test solution renewal, respectively.

The LC50 (96 h) on the fish Danio rerio was determined to be 7.3 mg/L in a study according to OECD guideline 203.

The EC50 (48 h) on Daphnia magna was determined to be 32 mg/L in a study according to OECD guideline 202.

The ErC50 (72 h) for algae (Desmodesmus subspicatus) was determined to be 41 mg/L in a study according to OECD guideline 201.
