Additional information

The ready biodegradability of bis(3,5,5-trimethylhexanoyl) peroxide (in 25 % isododecane) was determined in a 28-day modified Sturm test according OECD guideline 301B at an initial concentration of 10 mg/L TOC. Controls including samples with isododecane ("stabilizing agent solution") were run in parallel.

The quantity of CO2 produced by biodegradation of the peroxide bis(3,5,5-trimethylhexanoyl) peroxide was estimated from the difference between the quantities of CO2 released by the test solution and the stabilizing agent solution.

Under the experimental conditions of OECD 301B, bis(3,5,5-trimethylhexanoyl) peroxide was readily biodegradable.

Due to the ready biodegradability of the substance no additional simulation testing in soil, sediments and surface water is required.
