First-aid measures

General information Remove contaminated clothing immediately, to be disposed of or washed before re-use.

Inhalation Remove casualty to fresh air and provide warmth and rest; if necessary, seek medical

advice.

Skin contact Immediately clean areas of skin affected with soap and plenty of water; if necessary seek

medical advice.

Eye contact Immediately wash out eye thoroughly with plenty of water until irritation subsides; consult

an eye specialist/ophthalmologist.

Ingestion If product is swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting. Drink plenty of water; if necessary seek

medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

General hazard THE PRODUCT IS FLAMMABLE

Extinguishing media To suit local surroundings (e.g. water spray, carbon dioxide, foam, chemical powder, sand,

earth)

Extinguishing media not to

be used

None known. Do not use earth for large fires

Special exposure hazards Decomposition products released in a fire should be considered as probably harmful if

inhaled.

Protective equipment Wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Further information Avoid run-off water entering the drains (e.g. use barriers). Vapours may form explosive

mixtures with air. Vapour is heavier than air and may spread along the ground to ignition

sources.

Accidental release measures

Methods for cleaning up Adhere to personal protective measures. Remove all sources of ignition - No Smoking!

Take up with absorbent material, e.g. sand, sawdust, into tightly closed containers. Label

container and dispose of as prescribed. Ensure that all equipment used when handling the

product is earthed.

Environmental

considerations

Do not allow to get into waste water or waterways; if this occurs, inform the relevant water

authority at once.

Handling and storage

Advice on safe handling Handle in accordance with good hygiene and safety practice. Keep away from

incompatible substances. Only use non-sparking equipment. And be aware of static

electricity.

Storage conditions Ensure adequate ventilation of the storage area. Keep containers tightly closed, cool and

dry. Keep away from incompatible substances. Store closed drums with bung in “up”

position. Vapour space above stored liquid may be flammable/explosive unless blanketed

with inert gas.

Further information Stainless steel packaging is recommended.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure controls There are no workplace exposure limit (WEL) values available. Comply with good practice

for the control of exposure.

Engineering controls Provide adequate ventilation (e.g. local exhaust ventilation).

Take measures against the build up of electrostatic charges

Personal protection Observe normal standards for handling chemicals.

Avoid inhalation, and contact with eyes and skin

It is recommended that those with a medical history of sensitisation should not handle this

product.

Wear personal protective equipment appropriate to the task (see below)

Eye protection Safety goggles

Skin protection PVC or neoprene gloves (also consider your own risk assessment; e.g.

breakthrough times, rates of diffusion and degradation, tasks

undertaken)

Respiratory protection Approved respirator (e.g. EN 149:2001 FFP3) if ventilation is

insufficient.

Other protection Protective overall

Stability and reactivity

Stability Stable under normal conditions of handling. May form peroxides in air.

Thermal decomposition Not determined

Conditions to avoid Sources of ignition

Material to avoid Oxidising agents, acids, alkalies, ammonia, amines, sodium, zinc, magnesium and their

alloys, halides.

Hazardous reactions None known

Hazardous decomposition

products

Irritating and toxic vapours following fires

Disposal considerations

Disposal should be carried out In accordance with EU Hazardous Waste Regulations,

Contaminated packaging Treat empty containers as the product or if possible wash out thoroughly and recycle. dispose of washings as hazardous waste.
