Additional information

TETA was positive in the Ames test with and without metabolic activation. TETA was also positive in the In Vitro mammalian cell gene mutation studies and in In Vitro sister chromatid exchange studies. Studies to evaluate unscheduled DNA synthesis in mammalian cells showed both positive and negative results. When TETA was treated to reduce any nitrosamines which may had formed, TETA is less genotoxic In Vitro. Also, in the Ames test the mutagenic activity of TETA was modulated by the addition of CuSO4 in a dose-dependent manner, but was not modulated by the addition of MgSO4. TETA was negative in 3 In Vivo micronucleus assays.

Short description of key information:

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

Because of the negative results in the in vivo micronucleus test (three independent studies), no classification is needed.
