Additional information

The registered substance is an isomer of a previously-registered material, sodium N-(2- carboxyethyl)-N-(2-ethylhexyl)-β-alaninate (EC 305-318-6; CAS 94441-92-6). The analogue is considered particularly suitable for read-across and is registered at 100–1000tpa (Annex IX), supported by a robust data set comprising mainly of primary data but also drawing on read-across data from this class of substance, including government reports.

Conclusion on classification

The registered substance has been demonstrated to be readily biodegradable and no evidence of aquatic toxicity was reported in short-term or long-term studies involving the substance itself or a close analogue. As such, classification for environmental hazards is not required under the terms of Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
