Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Based on read across information from the structural analog 77PD, the phototransformation in water was estimated. The half life for photolysis for 77PD equals 2 hrs. A similar result is expected for 44PD.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in water:
2 h

Additional information

77PD (CAS 221 -375 -9) and 44 -PD (CAS 101 -96 -2) are structural analoges:

77PD: C-C(-C)-C-C-C(-C)-N-Phenyl-N-C(-C)-C-C-C(-C)-C

44PD: C-C-C(-C)-N-Phenyl-N-C(-C)-C-C-C

The difference between the two compounds is the longer alkyl group for 77PD (1,4 -dimethylpentyl group) in comparison with 44PD (1 -methylpropyl group). The mechanism of phototranformation is expected to be similar for both compounds and the estimated half life for 77PD is also expected to be close to that of 44PD.

In a study where a solution of 77PD was exposed to sunlight a half life of 2 hrs was observed. The controls that were kept in the dark showed a half life of 4 hrs, both at 23 °C. For 44PD similar results are expected. It can be concluded that light supports degradation.
