Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

The evaluation of the stability of 44PD (CAS 101 -96 -2) in the environment is based on experimental testing data (hydrolysis) and QSAR estimations. For phototransformation in air, a QSAR for 44PD was done, while for phototransoformation in water, a QSAR estimate based on 77PD ( a structural analog) was used.

The hydrolysis test on 44PD revealed that the substance is hydrolyses with the formation of biodegradable hydrolysis products at pH 4, 7 and 9, with the following half lives:

pH 4: ca. 230hr

pH 7: ca. 5.3 hr

pH 9: ca. 1.5 hr

With regard to phototransformation, for the air compartment, a half-life was estimated for 44PD of 1.095 hr, while in water read across was performed from 77PD QSAR data, yielding half-lives in light and dark of 2 hr and 4 hr, respectively.
