According to the results of the study, the test substance did not lead to an increase in the number of revertant colonies either without S-9 mix or after adding a metabolizing system in two experiments carried out independently of each other. The maximum increase observed at any concentration and in any strain tested did never exceed factor 1.5. [BASF, 1983]


Short description of key information:
The test substance tetradecyl chloroformate is not a mutagenic agent in the Salmonella typhimurium reverse mutation assay (Ames test).

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on negative results in the Ames tests, the criteria for classification according to EU Directive 67/548/EEC and EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 are not met.
