Description of key information

Reaction Products of C3 alcohols and C3 alkenes obtained as by-products from the manufacture of propan-2-ol by hydration of propylene isnot readily biodegradable. However, based on a screening assessment none of the substance constituents are considered to be persistent.

Additional information

Although the whole substance data available for the substance shows that it cannot be considered to be readily biodegradable, a QSAR screening assessment conducted for individual constituents (using BIOWIN and BIOHCWIN models) indicates that none of the substance constituents are likely to be persistent.

Based on the BIOWIN predictions, none of the constituents meet the persistent criteria. Diisopropylether and 1-isopropoxypropane have BIOWIN 2 predictions <0.5, and diisopropylether also has a BIOWIN 6 prediction <0.5, but the BIOWIN 3 predictions for both constituents are >2.25 (and >2.75), therefore the constituents are not persistent. Some of the constituents, including 2,3-dimethylbutane and some of the C9 constituents, have BIOWIN 6 predictions <0.5, but these constituents also have BIOWIN 3 predictions >2.25 (and >2.75) and are not persistent.

For the constituents for which BIOHCWIN is relevant, only cyclohexane has a half-life >40 days (55.38 days), but the BIOWIN predictions for this constituent indicate that it would not be persistent.
