Additional information

In a study conducted according to EU Method C.4-D (Determination of the "Ready" Biodegradability - Manometric Respirometry Test). The test item proved to be readily biodegradable and fullfilling the 10 d-window criterion (>90% biodegradation after 28 d). The result is supported by further study conducted according to OECD Guideline 301 C (Ready Biodegradability: Modified MITI Test (I)). Citral proved to be readily biodegradable (88 -94% biodegradation after 28 d based on BOD/ThOD). As no details on the results were reported it can not be judged whether the 10/14-d window criterion was fulfilled. In a study according to OECD Guideline 301 F (Ready Biodegradability: Manometric Respirometry Test) the test item proved to be readily biodegradable but failing the 10 -d window criterion. After 28 d the test item was biodegraded by 66% (based on ThOD) and by 69% (based on COD; mean values each). Based on the mean values of the two test runs, the criterion of the 10-d window for ready biodegradability was not fulfilled in respect to the ThOD and COD. However, overall the substance is assumed to be readily biodegradable.
