Short-term Toxicity to aquatic invertebrates:
In a 48-h acute
toxicity study according to OECD guideline 202, water fleas (Daphia
magna) were exposedunder
The toxicity of Saponin DAB 9/10 towards microorganism was determined
according to DIN 38412 L8. Pseudomonas Putida microorganism were exposed
to Saponin DAB 9/10 for 16 hours.
At the start of the test and after 16 hours the cell number was
estimated by photometric determination.
Following results were estimated:
16 -h EC10: > 2500 mg/l
16 -h EC50: > 10000 mg/l
The test was performed according to the recommendations of the OECD
The purpose of this study was to determine the inhibitory effect of the
test item on the growth of the fresh water unicellular green alga
Scenedesmus subspicatus. Exponentially growing cultures of this algal
species were exposed to various concentrations of the test item under
defined conditions. The ErC50 (growth rate), ErC100 (growth rate) and
NOEC was estimated for a period of 72 hours.
Following results were determined:
72 -h NOEC: 800 mg/l
72 -h EC50: > 800 mg/l
72 -h EC100: > 800 mg/l
Short-term toxicity to fish:
In a 96-h acute toxicity study according to OECD Guideline 203, golden
orfs (Leuciscus Idus Melanotus) were exposed to Saponin DAB 9/10 at
nominal concentrations of 15, 20, 30, 40, 60 and 80mg/l under static
conditions. Following results were estimated:
96-h NOEC: 10 mg/l
96-h LC50: 38.8 mg/l
96-h LC100: 60 mg/l
