Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The determination of the hydrolysis rate based on OECD 111. Dichloromethyl(3,3,3-trifluoropropyl)silane hydrolyses very rapidly. The half-life time of the substance at 1.5 °C was reported to be approximately 8 seconds at pH 4, 12 seconds at pH 7 and 9 seconds at pH 9 (DowCorning, 2001). Since the hydrolysis was so rapid relative to the timescale of the analytical measurement, there was insufficient data to determine concrete rate constants for the hydrolysis reactions by regression modelling. However, the data was adequate for estimating the upper limit of DT50. Half-life estimates were < 17 seconds for pH 4, 7, and 9 at 1.5°C.
