Description of key information

With high probability acutely not harmful to aquatic algae. No acute toxic effects occur within the range of solubility.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In a 72 hour acute toxicity study, the cultures of Scenedesmus subspicatus were exposed to the test item at nominal concentrations of 0 and 100 mg/L (nominal loading rate) under static conditions in accordance with the OECD 201 (1984; RCC Ltd. 2004).  The NOEC and EC50 values based on biomass and growth were 100 and > 100 mg/L, respectively.  The test item had no inhibitory effect on the growth of Scenedesmus subspicatus during the exposure period of 72 hours in the undiluted filtrate with a loading rate of the test item of 100 mg/L. Therefore, the test item is with high probability acutely not harmful to aquatic algae.
