Description of key information

It is not expected that Zn-phtholocyanine is absorbed after ingestion. Therefore, no hazard is expected for oral exposure.

Additional information

A lot of publications focus on the use of Zn-phthalocyanine as a photosensitizing agent for tumor treatment. For such applications, intravenous injection is applied indicating that oral dosing does not lead to systemic availability. This is supported by experimental data on Cu-phtholocyanine. Both substances are highly insoluble in water (< 0.06 mg/L) and have a molecular weight of above 500 g/mol.
