Description of key information

NOEC (21d) for reproduction: >= 6.4 mg/L

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10, LC10 or NOEC for freshwater invertebrates:
6.4 mg/L

Additional information

Formaldehyde (40%) was tested for its effects on the reproductive output of Daphnia magna in a study conducted according to OECD Test Guideline 211 and Good Laboatory Practice (GLP).

The NOEC for Cumulative Offspring of Survivors was >= 6.4 mg/L (concentration based on formaldehyde 100%)

The NOEC for Mean Offspring of Survivors was >= 6.4 mg/L (concentration based on formaldehyde 100%)

There was no statistical evidence between the control and 6.4 mg/L of formaldehyde 100%, representing the highest concentration where all test animals survived.
