Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Toxicity to microorganisms: EC15 (3hr) = 869 mg/l (ASRI), based on read-across from a structurally-related substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

There are no microorganism toxicity data available for 3-(diethoxymethylsilyl)propylamine

, therefore good quality data for the structurally-related substance 2,2-dimethyl-4-(trimethoxysilyl)butylamine (CAS 157923-74-5), have been read across. Both substances hydrolyse to structurally-related silanol hydrolysis products,

3-(dihydroxymethylsilyl)propylamine

and

2,2-dimethyl-4-(trihydroxysilyl)butylamine, respectively (with hydrolysis half-lives of 6 hours (measured) and 4.1 hours (predicted), respectively.

T

he other hydrolysis products are ethanol and methanol, which do not have adverse effects on microorganisms.

Both 3-(diethoxymethylsilyl)propylamine

and

2,2-dimethyl-4-(trimethoxysilyl)butylamine

are within an analogue group of substances that exhibit some evidence of toxicity to microorganisms

It is therefore considered valid to read-across the results for

2,2-dimethyl-4-(trimethoxysilyl)butylamine

to fill the data gap for the registered substance.Additional information is given in a supporting report (PFA, 2013l )attached in Section 13 of the IUCLID 5 dossier.

A 3hr ASRI EC15 value of 869 mg/l was determined for 2,2-dimethyl-4-(trimethoxysilyl)butylamine

.The study is considered to be reliability 1 (reliable without restrictions); the read across of the result is considered to be reliability 2 (reliable with restrictions).
