Description of key information

With high probability acutely not harmful to fish.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The results of a BASF guideline study conducted in 1983 indicate that the test substance is harmful to Leuciscus idus if not-neutralised test solutions are used. The LC50 based on nominal test item concentrations in not-neutralised samples was determined to be approximately 46 mg/L. Neutralisation abolished the toxic effects and the LC50 was determined to be greater than 500 mg/L (pH-effect). Additional studies and publications on the acute toxicity of the test substance to fish support the results of the key study. Therefore, n-propylamine is considered to be not harmful to fish.
