PBT assessment: overall result

Reference
Name:
1,4-Dihydroxyanthraquinone
Type of composition:
legal entity composition of the substance
State / form:
solid: particulate/powder
Reference substance:
1,4-Dihydroxyanthraquinone
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Although the partition coefficient, low biodegradation rates (from one study on the registered substance) and aquatic toxicity would suggest properties are close to those leading to PBT, it is considered that PBT does not apply based on data present.

As well as the single screening study performed on the substance itself, there are published data on this class of substance suggestign biodegradation occurs.

The fact that hydroxyanthraquinones are formed in plants would suggest ultimate biodegradation and no accumulation.
