Four assays (concentration between 1 and 25% of test item) have been performed at the maximum temperature of the reactor (500°C). No evidence of auto ignition was seen.

Executive summary:

The auto ignition of the test item was determined according to ASTM Method E-659 and under GLP.

A deviation from the guideline was observed during the study. A horizontally oriented 2.25 steel vessel was used instead of an open 500 ml glass flask. Due to the test item properties, it is not possible to perform the study without this deviation.

The determination of the test item auto ignition temperature was conducted in a custom designed and fabricated by the testing laboratory.

After heating of the apparatus at the required test temperature, the test item was introduced into the test vessel (previously emptied).

The temperature and the pressure of the test vessel were followed by a thermocouple and a pressure transducer. Any rapid rise in temperature and pressure would denote an ignition event.

No auto ignition of the test item was observed up to 500°C.
