Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

3,3,3-trifluoro-2-(trifluoromethyl)propene is a monomer in imported polymers only. No free substance is manufactured or used in EU therefore no direct release to the environment is anticipated.

Additional information

3,3,3-trifluoro-2-(trifluoromethyl)propene is a gas at standard conditions with a water solubility of 272 mg/L. The high Henry Law’s constant of 8.05E+04 Pa m³/mol (25°C) indicates that 3,3,3-trifluoro-2-(trifluoromethyl)propene has a low affinity for distributing in the water compartment and in a system water/air it would have a high tendency to distribute quickly to the gas phase.

Basing on the experimental Log Kow = 2.42 and the calculated Log Koc = 2.28 a low affinity for organic matter is expected.

If released in the environment the main compartment of distribution would be therefore expected to be the atmosphere.

As other fluorochemical products 3,3,3-trifluoro-2-(trifluoromethyl)propene is not be expected to undergo significant biodegradation in any of the environmental compartments.

No data are available for abiotic degradation in any of the environmental compartments.
