Biodegradation in water: screening test:

Weight of evidence: Experimental results and (Q)SAR estimation on ready biodegradability and experimental results on inherent biodegradability. Based on all the reported results, it is concluded that trichloroacetic acid is not readily biodegradable in water.

Biodegradation in soil:

Supporting studies: experimental results from independent peer reviewed secondary sources. The half-life of trichloroacetic acid in soil is 119.6 days, and it indicates that biodegradation is not an important environmental fate process in soil.
