In an acute toxicity study with earthworms (Eisenia foetida) performed
according to OECD 207, earthworms were exposed to a single dose of 1000
mg/kg test substance. The test substance induced no mortality after 14
days, and thus the 14d-NOEC is 1000 mg/kg.
In a seedling emergence and growth test performed according to OECD 208,
the effect of the substance on emergence and growth (shoot dry weight)
was investigated up to 21 days after 50% emergence in the control was
reached. Three plant species were included in the study: tomato
(Lycopersicon esculentum), soybean (Glycine max), and oat (Avena
sativa). At the single concentration of 1000 mg/kg (ww), no
statistically significant effects were observed on any of the species.
Therefore, the derived NOEC is 1000 mg/kg.
No other studies (e.g. in terrestrial arthropods or soil microorganisms)
investigating terrestrial toxicity were performed. The substance did not
show adverse effects in earthworms and in plants. Furthermore, exposure
to soil is limited according to the exposure assessment.
