Additional information

Chloro(dimethyl)octadecylsilane (CAS 18643-08-8) hydrolyses rapidly (half-life <2 min) in water and humid environments to the corresponding hydrolysis products octadecyldimethylsilanol and HCl. The substance was found to be inherently degradable by microorganisms. The hydrolysis product is not volatile (8.4E-06 Pa at 25°C) and is barely water soluble (2.97E-05 mg/L at 20-25°C). However, it has a high adsorption potential and is therefore expected to sorb on soil and sediment particles as well as on sewage sludge.
