Description of key information

No lethal effect was observed on Danio rerio at the loading rate of 100 mg/L after 96 hours.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

LC50 for freshwater fish:
100 mg/L

Additional information

The acute toxicity on fish of the isosorbide diesters (EC No. 700 -073 -5) has been determined according to the OECD Guideline 203 (semi-static conditions) and in compliance with the GLP.

Due to the very low solubility of the tested substance and its UVCB nature, and in conformity with the Document OCDE N° 23 (Guidance Document on Aquatic Toxicity Testing of Difficult Substances and Mixtures) WAFs were prepared at 1, 10 and 100 mg/L. No mortality was observed on the fish exposed to these different loading rates, therefore the LLO ≥ 100 mg/L (highest tested loading rate)

The substance Isosorbide di-octanoate (CAS No. 64896-70-4 ) was considered to show a LLO ≥ 100 mg/L on the basis of the results obtained in this acute fish test performed with a very similar analogue.
