Description of key information

Hydrolysis is not relevant due to poor solubility of the substance in water (WS < 1 mg/L)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No experimental studies investigating the abiotic hydrolysis of Fatty acids, C18 unsaturated, trimers, 2-ethylhexyl esters (CAS No. 173832-46-7) are available. However, in accordance with Annex VIII, column 2 (subsection of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, testing for hydrolysis as a function of pH is not required since the substance is highly insoluble in water. In addition, QSAR calculations (HYDROWIN v2.00) for the main components of the substance indicate, that hydrolysis can indeed be considereda negligible pathway for the fate of the substance in the environment, withDT50 values (pH 7) > 1 yr; Hopp, 2011.
