Additional information

In accordance with Annex IX, 9.2.1.2, column 2, simulation testing on ultimate degradation in surface water does not need to be conducted if the substance is highly insoluble in water. The water solubility of Fatty acids, C18 unsaturated, trimers, 2-ethylhexyl esters (CAS No. 173832-46-7) is < 1 mg/L and therefore, further testing in the water phase is not deemed necessary. No studies investigating the biodegradation of the substance in sediment are available. The results from the ready biodegradability test (27.5-41.1% after 28 days) show that a certain degree of biodegradation of this substance in the environment can be expected. Nevertheless, as a worst-case approach, persistency of Fatty acids, C18 unsaturated, trimers, 2-ethylhexyl esters (CAS No. 173832-46-7) cannot be excluded.
