Additional information

It is known that organophosphites, which includes test item, are hydrolytically unstable, especially under acidic conditions (Goghova, 1989 and Stevenson, 1997).

When excess test item was mixed with water, the pH of the near-saturated solution was observed to decrease from 6.1 to 3.5 after 7 h of mixing at ca. 23°C, presumably due to an increase in phosphorous acid concentration caused by the hydrolysis of test item. This indicated that test item would be hydrolytically unstable in water, which precluded the performance of the water solubility test (OECD Guideline105).

Therefore the water solubility was estimated by the calculation using computer software manufactured by ACD.
