Because of the volatility of the test item, ready biodegradation was determined in a closed bottle test following OECD 301D. No biodegradation of 2 -Norbornene at a concentration of 1.86 mg/l could be observed even after 28d, a 10 -day window could not be detected. The test met all validity criteria. (Muckle, 2010)

inherent biodegradation

In a laboratory scale model of a sewage treatment plant, Norbornene was fed to adapted microorganisms originally stemming from a domestic sewage treatment plant. After adaptation, increasing amounts of Norborene up to 40 ml/l were fed within a 21d period. Under test conditions no sign of biodegradation could be observed. (VEB Leuna, 1979)
