Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 116 (Fat Solubility of Solid and Liquid Substances)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes
Key result
Medium:
standard fat
Solubility:
<= 0.4 mg/100 g solvent
Temp.:
37 °C
Test substance stable:
yes
Conclusions:
In a GLP study conducted according to OECD Guideline 106, the solubility of trisodium EDDS in a standard fat was up to 4 mg/kg at 37°C
Executive summary:

In a GLP study conducted according to OECD Guideline 106, the solubility of trisodium EDDS in a standard synthetic fat (HB307) was determined by stirring the test material (100 or 400 mg) with the fat solvent (50 or 25 mL respectively) at 37oC for up to 48 h. The concentration of the test material in the fat phase was measured by HPLC.

The analysed concentrations of trisodium EDDS varied from 0.09 to 3.57 mg/kg. Due to the significant variation between measurements, the fat solubility was taken to be equal to or less than 3.57 mg/kg (the highest concentration analysed).
