Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

First aid personnel should pay attention to their own safety. If the patient is likely to become unconscious, place and transport in stable sideways position (recovery position). Immediately remove contaminated clothing.

If inhaled: Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air, seek medical attention. Immediately administer a corticosteroid from a controlled/metered dose inhaler.

On skin contact: Immediately wash thoroughly with plenty of water, apply sterile dressings, consult a skin specialist.

On contact with eyes: Immediately wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open, consult an eye specialist.

On ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Immediately rinse mouth and then drink 200-300 ml of water, seek medical attention.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed
The most important known symptoms and effects are described by the labelling. Additional symptoms are possible.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
Treatment according to symptoms (decontamination, vital functions).

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: water spray, foam.

Unsuitable extinguishing media for safety reasons: water jet.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture
nitrogen oxides and carbon oxides can be released in case of fire. Under certain conditions in case of fire other hazardous combustion products may be generated.

Advice for fire-fighters
Special protective equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical-protective clothing.

Further information: Disposal of fire debris and contaminated extinguishing water in accordance with official regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Avoid inhalation. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing.

Environmental precautions: Do not discharge into drains/surface waters/groundwater.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
For small amounts: Pick up with suitable absorbent material (e.g. sand, sawdust, general-purpose binder, kieselguhr).
For large amounts: Vacuum up spilled product.
Disposal of absorbed material in accordance with regulations.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling
Ensure thorough ventilation of stores and work areas. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment before entering eating areas. Hands and/or face should be washed before breaks and at the end of the shift. When using the substance, do not eat, drink or smoke.

Protection against fire and explosion:
Prevent electrostatic charge - sources of ignition should be kept well clear - fire extinguishers should be kept handy.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Further information on storage conditions: Keep container tightly closed and in a cool place. Keep under inert gas.

Storage stability:
Storage temperature: < 30 °C
Storage duration: 24 Months

Exposure controls / personal protection

Personal protective equipment

Respiratory protection:
Wear respiratory protection if ventilation is inadequate. Gas filter for gases/vapours of organic compounds (boiling point >65 °C, e. g. EN 14387 Type A).

Hand protection:
Chemical resistant protective gloves (EN 374).
Suitable materials also with prolonged, direct contact (Recommended: Protective index 6, corresponding > 480 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374):
- fluoroelastomer (FKM) - 0.7 mm coating thickness
- butyl rubber (butyl) - 0.7 mm coating thickness
Manufacturer's directions for use should be observed because of great diversity of types.
Supplementary note: The specifications are based on tests, literature data and information of glove manufacturers or are derived from similar substances by analogy. Due to many conditions (e.g. temperature) it must be considered, that the practical usage of a chemical-protective glove in practice may be much shorter than the permeation time determined through testing.

Eye protection:
Tightly fitting safety goggles (cage goggles) (e.g. EN 166) and face shield.

Body protection:
Body protection must be chosen depending on activity and possible exposure, e.g. apron, protecting boots, chemical-protection suit (according to EN 14605 in case of splashes or EN ISO 13982 in case of dust).

General safety and hygiene measures
Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Wearing of closed work clothing is required additionally to the stated personal protection equipment. When using, do not eat, drink or smoke. Hands and/or face should be washed before breaks and at the end of the shift. Gloves must be inspected regularly and prior to each use. Replace if necessary (e.g. pinhole leaks). Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Store work clothing separately.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity
No hazardous reactions if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.

Formation of flammable gases
Forms no flammable gases in the presence of water.

Chemical stability
The product is stable if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.

Possibility of hazardous reactions
No hazardous reactions if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.

Incompatible materials
Substances to avoid: oxidizing agents, acids

Hazardous decomposition products
Thermal decomposition products: carbon oxides, nitrogen oxides.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods: Incineration in a suitable incineration plant, observing local authority regulations.

Remaining quantities are to be eliminated by
- on-site waste incineration plant, and
- on-site waste water treatment plant.

Contaminated packaging should be emptied as far as possible; then it can be passed on for recycling after being thoroughly cleaned.
