Additional information

PNECs were calculated automatically using the available PNEC calculator. Most of the key values used as input consist of limit values at 100 mg/L, where no adverse effect was observed. Consequently, the calculated PNECs are too low. However, as the submission substance is not classified according to Regulation No (EC) 2008/1272 in any of the hazard classes, no exposure assessment must be performed according to REACH Article 14 (4). Therefore, the PNECs were kept as such.

Acute hazard category

There are adequate short-term studies available covering three trophic levels, i.e. algae, daphnia and fish. The submission substance does not need to be classified for the environment according to Regulation No (EC) 2008/1272, based on the available acute toxicity data.

Chronic hazard category

There is one adequate long-term toxicity study available, i.e. for algae (72h-NOErC (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata, growth rate) >= 100 mg/L). Furthermore, available acute toxicity data do not include any EC50 <= 100 mg/L, and the submission substance is rapidly biodegradable and the log Kow is far below 4. According to Regulation (EC) 2008/1272, the submission substance does not need to be classified for long-term aquatic hazards.

In conclusion, the submission substance in not classified as hazardous for the environment.
