Test results of vapour pressure

The vapour pressure was measured in the temperature range from 68 °C to 111 °C. The lowest pressure (1 333 Pa) was set and the boiling section of the apparatus was heated by an electrical cartridge. To confirm its reproducibility and reliability, measured points were repeated at decreasing pressures. The measured temperatures are listed in table below.

Based on experimentally measured data, log P was expressed as a function of 1/T. From the measured data points of the vapour pressure curve, the constants A and B of the Antoine equation were calculated.

The vapour pressure of 2,3-butanediol ((2R,3R)-rich) was calculated by extrapolation of the measured vapour pressure curve for the temperatures 20 ℃, 25 ℃ and 50 ℃.

Reaction or decomposition of the test material was not observed during the test.

Conclusions:
The vapour pressure of 2,3-butanediol ((2R,3R)-rich) was 56.6 Pa at 20 °C (293 K), 82.8 Pa at 25 °C (298 K) and 464 Pa at 50 °C (323 K) (extrapolated values).
