Description of key information

Absorption
oral/GI absorption
The Molecular Weight of 3-acetylthiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid is 175.21 less than 500 which are favourable for absorption.
The substance is Water-soluble and has a low molecular weight less than 500.
It’s more easily to be taken up and will readily dissolve into the gastrointestinal fluids.
It also may pass through aqueous pores or be carried through the epithelial barrier by the bulk passage of water.
The LogPOW is < 0 which indicates that the substance may not be taken up by micellular solubilisation.
The test item Gamma Terpinene administered to 6 females at dose of 2000 mg/kg body weight did not cause death. No signs of toxicity were observed during the first 4 hours in females and within the 14-day observation period thereafter. No body weight losses were observed between one and two weeks after administration of the test item. During necropsy, no macroscopic findings were observed.
AfterRepeated dosetoxicity,28d study(oral), The test item
- did not cause mortality of animals
- had no visible toxic effect on animals
- had no influence on haematological and clinical chemistry parameters
- did not cause changes in urine
- did not cause of macroscopic findings on the examined organs
- had no influence on the locomotor activity, reaction time and grip strength
- did not cause histopathological changes on examined organs
Therefore the substance’s not easy to be absorbed by oral route.

Respiratory absorption – Inhalation
The substance’s boiling point is more than 150 oC and has low volatility. it is not easily absorbed by Inhalation.
The LogPOW is <0 and the substance may not be taken up by micellular solubilisation

Dermal absorption
The substance is solid and is not more readily dermal uptake.
The water solubility is 113.2 g/l and indicates that absorption is anticipated to be low to moderate. Log P is less than 0, the rate of penetration should not be limited by the rate of transfer between the stratum corneum and the epidermis, and uptake into the stratum corneum will not be high.

The test item Gamma Terpinene applied to 5♀ and 5♂ at a limit dose of 2000 mg/kg body weight did not cause death. All females and males survived the limit dose of 2000 mg/kg body weight. No body weight losses in males and mildly increase and decrease or stagnation in females were observed between one and two weeks after application of the test item. No signs of toxicity were observed at the dosage of 2000 mg/kg body weight during the first 4 hours in females or 14-day observation period. No dermal changes were observed. During necropsy no macroscopic findings were noticed. There is no evidence that the substance can be absorbed by the animal by dermal route.

Distribution
The LogPOW is <0. It is not likely to distribute into cells and the intracellular concentration may not be higher than extracellular concentration particularly in fatty tissues.
