Reference
Endpoint:
particle size distribution (granulometry)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
31 May 2016
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: test procedure in accordance with international standard method, but without detailed documentation
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
ISO 13320 (Particle size analysis - Laser diffraction methods)
Deviations:
not specified
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The particle size distribution was analyzed using the Laser Particle Sizer 'ANALYSETTE 22 MicroTec plus', which uses the technique of laser diffraction to measure the size of particles. It measures the intensity of light scattered as a laser beam passes through a dispersed particulate sample. This data is then analyzed to calculate the size of the particles that created the scattering pattern.
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
Laser scattering/diffraction
Type of particle tested:
primary particle
Type of distribution:
volumetric distribution

- Dv10: 2.955 µm

- Dv50: 7.504 µm

- Dv90: 13.650 µm

Conclusions:
The volume median diameter was determined to be 7.504 µm

Executive summary:

Using the laser diffraction (ISO 13320) method to study the particle size of Graphene, the volume median diameter (Dv50) was determined to be 7.504 µm. The particle size distribution was found to range from approximately 0.556 µm to 78.995 µm.

100 % of the particles in the sample have a particle size <  100 µm; the following distribution was determined:

- 21.191 % of test material having a diameter < 5 µm

- 49.73 % of the test material having a diameter of 5 - 10 µm

- 29.079 % of the test material having a diameter of 10 - 100 µm.
