Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
Experimental strating date is 4th May 2016. Experimental completion date is 20th June 2017. Report issued: 13th October 2017.
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 107 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), Shake Flask Method)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
The stock solution was prepared in n-octanol saturated water. This deviation was considered to have negligible impact on the result. It was considered to be more appropriate to use this solvent to obtain a more realistic partition coefficient value.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.8 (Partition Coefficient - Shake Flask Method)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
The stock solution was prepared in n-octanol saturated water. This deviation was considered to have negligible impact on the result. It was considered to be more appropriate to use this solvent to obtain a more realistic partition coefficient value.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
flask method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Analytical method:
high-performance liquid chromatography
Key result
Type:

Temp.:
22.2 °C
pH:
ca. 6.3 - ca. 6.5
Conclusions:
The partition coefficient of the test item has been determined to be 0.595 @22.2°C + or - 0.5°C, log10 PoW -0.226.
Executive summary:

Introduction

The determination was carried out using the shake-flask method, desined to be compatible with the method A.8 Partition coefficient of commission regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and method 107 of the OECD guidlines for the testing of chemicals , 27 July 1995.

Results

The determination of the partition coefficient was performed using the shake flask method. The stock solution was prepared in n-octanol saturated water. This was due to the insolubility of the test item in the organic phase. This minor deviation to the guidelne has been considered to have negligible impact on the overall result and has been considered to be more appropriate to use this solvent to obtain a more realistic partition coefficient value.

Conclusion

The partition coefficient of the test item has been determined to be 0.595 at 22.2 + or - 0.5 °C. Log10 PoW-0.226.
