From these data it is calculated that from the fraction < 100 µm 15.4% is < 10 µm and 6.7% is < 5 µm. For the whole product it means:

  • < 10 µm: 0.21%
  • < 5 µm: 0.09%
Conclusions:
The particle size distribution (PSD) of dilauroyl peroxide is: < 100 µm 1.4 %, < 10 µm 0.21% and < 5 µm 0.09%. The shape of the fines is non-fibrous.
Executive summary:

Light microscopic examination revealed that the dilauryol peroxide sample contained a small amount of fines.

The shape of the fines is non-fibrous.

This observation is confirmed by sieving the sample over a 100µm sieve. A small amount of fines were sieved off (1.4 m/m%).

The characteristics of the PSD of the fraction < 100 µm are:

From the whole product 0.21% is < 10 µm and 0.09% is < 5 µm.

The particle size distribution (PSD) of di-lauroyl peroxide is: < 100 µm 1.4 %, < 10 µm 0.21% and < 5 µm 0.09%.
