Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

As reported by EFSA Panel on Food Additives and Nutrient Sources added to Food, experimental data on LC50 for E104 Quinoline Yellow are reported: LD50 rat > 2000 mg/kg bw, LD50 mouse > 2000 mg/kg bw, LD50 dog > 1000 mg/kg bw. According to these values no classification is proposed.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Not classified for acute toxicity according to the CLP Regulation (EC.1272/2008). For justification see additional information.

The low toxicity by oral route in addition to the authorisation of use as food additive indicates a very low toxicity of this substance. There is no concern of toxicity following both dermal and inhalation route. No classification for acute toxicity is required.
