Description of key information

In studies in rats and mice, chlorobenzene was fatal after acute, intermediate and chronic oral administration. Rats of both sexes and mice died within 2-3 days of single exposure to, respectively, 4000 mg / kg and 1000 mg / kg of the substance in corn oil. However, no histological or necroscopic examinations were performed on the treated animals.

Chlorobenzene is not considered to cause serious health effects due to repeated oral exposure, NOAEL of 125 mg / kg body weight. The substance should also not cause severe health effects by repeated exposure by inhalation.
