Description of key information

Appearance

The research material was observed to be a light brown, slightly viscous, liquid and the product as manufactured was described as a clear, colourless, liquid.

 

Melting/freezing point

The freezing point of the research material was determined by the crystallising point method to be less than -20 °C (<253 K) (OECD 102 and EU Method A.1).

Boiling point

The research material was determined by differential scanning calorimetry to decompose from approximately 117°C at 102 to 103 kPa after volatilisation of moisture (OECD 103 and EU Method A.2).

 

Relative density

Density of the research material was determined by the pycnometer method to be 1.13 x 10E03 kg/m3 at 20.0±1.0°C with relative density reported as 1.13 (OECD 109 and EU Method A.3).

 

Granulometry

Determination of particle size distribution is not relevant to the toxicological profile of the research material or the manufactured product because both substances are liquids.

 

Vapour pressure

The vapour pressure of the research material was determined to be 1.87 Pa at 25 °C (298 K), 1.12 Pa at 40 °C (313 K) and 0.921 Pa at 70 °C (343 K) (OECD 104 and EU Method A.4). Vapour pressure of the manufactured product was determined to be 23.7 Pa at 25 °C (298 K), 16.1 Pa at 40 °C (313 K) and 18.8 Pa at 70 °C (343 K), using the balance method (OECD 104 and EU Method A.4). Partition coefficient

The n-octanol/water partition coefficient of the research material was determined to beless than or equal to 1.76 x 10-4 at 21 ± 1 °C, with a Log10 Pow of ≤ -3.75, using the shake-flask method (OECD 107 and EU Method A.8).

 

Water solubility

The research material and the product as manufactured were determined to be miscible in all proportions at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C by visual assessment using a modified flask method (OECD 105 and EU Method A.6).

Surface tension

Surface tension of the research material was determined to be 72.5 ± 0.5 mN/m (nominal 1.7 g/L solution, approximately 1 g/L active ingredient) at 21.4 ± 0.5 °C using a ring method. The test item was not considered to be surface active (OECD 115 and EU Method A.5).

 

Flash point

The research material was determined to have no flash point below the boiling temperature using the closed cup equilibrium method (EU Method A.9). The flash point of the manufactured product was determined to be 87 ± 2 °C, using the closed cup equilibrium method (EU Method A.9).

 

Auto-ignition temperature

Auto-ignition temperature of the research material was determined to be 470±5°C (EU Method A.15).

Flammability

The research material and manufactured product are liquids and, in line with ECHA Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment Chapter R.7a: Endpoint specific guidance (Version 6.0; July 2017), relevant properties for classification of the substance as flammable are the determined flash point and boiling point. Further experimental investigation of flammability is therefore not required.

 

Explosive properties

Explosive properties were predicted negative based on chemical structure of the research material (EU Method A.14).

Oxidising properties

Oxidising properties were predicted negative based on chemical structure of the research material (EU Method A.21).

 

Stability in organic solvents

Formulations prepared at target test substance concentrationsof 10 and 220 mg test item/mL in peanut oil met the protocol-specified requirement for homogeneity and, after 6 and 10 days of room temperature storage, resuspension homogeneity and stability.
