Description of key information

The partition coefficient of the registered substance was determined using the HPLC method in accordance with OECD test guidelines and GLP Standards. The Kow was determined to be within the range <2.0 to 3.22 equivalent to a LogKow of <0.3 to 0.507 at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C

The standard water solubility method (EC method A6 and OECD method 105) was not applicable to this test item due to the high indeterminable saturation levels produced.  It was therefore not possible to prepare samples at five times the saturation level as recommended in the guidelines.  No analysis could be performed for the main test due to the high solubility producing unfilterable mixtures.  Therefore the water solubility was determined based on visual inspection.

Due to the fast hydrolysis of the test item, a short shake flask was used to confirm the result.  The 1 hour timing provided the same result as the 72 hour shake at elevated temperatures.  Hydrolysis at pH 7 shows that > 90% of the test item would be remaining with a 1 hour shake at 20 °C and time for the observations. The water solubility of the test item has been determined to be >95% w/w of solution at 20.0 ± 0.5 ºC.

The flash point of 9-[2-(2-METHOXYETHOXY)ETHOXY]-9-[3(OXIRANYLMETHOXY)PROPYL]-2,5,8,10,13,16-HEXAOXA-9-SILAHEPTADECANE was determined to be 103 ± 2 °C, using a closed cup equilibrium method designed to be compatible with Method A.9 Flash Point of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.

The boiling point for the registered substance 9-[2-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethoxy]-9-[3(oxiranylmethoxy)propyl]- 2,5,8,10,13,16-hexaoxa-9-silaheptadecane was calculated using the adapted Stein and Brown Method to be 494.61°C

The melting point for the registered substance 9-[2-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethoxy]-9-[3(oxiranylmethoxy)propyl]- 2,5,8,10,13,16-hexaoxa-9-silaheptadecane w175.14 (Gold and Ogle method) and 257.18°C (Joback; Gold, Ogle Methods). A weighted melting point of 207.96°C was considered suitable for use.

The density of the registered substance 9-[2-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethoxy]-9-[3(oxiranylmethoxy)propyl]- 2,5,8,10,13,16-hexaoxa-9-silaheptadecane was calculated to be 1.08 g/cm3

The vapour pressure was calculated to be: -1.17E-07 mmHG at 25°C or 1.559E-5 at 25°C
