Description of key information
Appearance
2-Propenoic acid, 2-[[(octadecylamino)carbonyl]oxy]ethyl ester is a white powder.
Melting point
In an OECD 102 study, under GLP conditions, the melting point of 2-Propenoic acid, 2-[[(octadecylamino)carbonyl]oxy]ethyl ester was determined to be 72.3 +/- 0.5°C (Envigo, 2016a).
Boiling point
In an OECD 103 study, under GLP conditions, 2-Propenoic acid, 2-[[(octadecylamino)carbonyl]oxy]ethyl ester decomposed at approximately 220 °C (493 K) at 102 kPa. As the test item decomposed, no value for boiling point could be determined. (Envigo, 2016a).
Density
In an OECD 109 study, under GLP conditions, 2-Propenoic acid, 2-[[(octadecylamino)carbonyl]oxy]ethyl ester has a density of 1.03E3 kg/m3 at 20.0 ± 1.0°C; relative density: 1.03.(Envigo, 2016a).
Particle size
In an European Commission Guidance Document EUR 20268 ‘Determination of Particle Size Distribution, Fibre Length and Diameter Distribution of Chemical Substances’ (2002) study, under GLP conditions, the particle size of 2-Propenoic acid, 2‑[[(octadecylamino)carbonyl]oxy]ethyl ester is <100µm (Sieve method): 13.5%, <10.0µm (Cascade impactor method): <1.0% and <5.5µm (Cascade impactor method) <0.8% (Envigo, 2016a).
Vapour pressure
In an OECD 104 study, under GLP conditions, 2-Propenoic acid, 2-[[(octadecylamino)carbonyl]oxy]ethyl ester has a vapour pressure of 6.8 x 10-4Pa at 25 ºC (Envigo, 2016c).
Partition coefficient
In an OECD 117 study, under GLP conditions, the partition coefficient (Pow) of2-Propenoic acid, 2‑[[(octadecylamino)carbonyl]oxy]ethyl esterisgreater than 3.16 x 106, log10 Pow greater than 6.5 Envigo, 2016a).
Water solubility
In an OECD 105 study, under GLP conditions, the water solubility of 2-Propenoic acid, 2‑[[(octadecylamino)carbonyl]oxy]ethyl ester is less than 2.5 x 10-7g/L of solution at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C (Envigo, 2016a).
Surface tension
The surface tension was not determined according to a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A.5 Surface Tension of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 115 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995 since the water solubility was determined to be less than 1 mg/L. The method guideline states that substances with a water solubility less than 1 mg/L need not be tested for surface tension.
Flash point
2-Propenoic acid, 2-[[(octadecylamino)carbonyl]oxy]ethyl ester is a white solid with a melting point of 72.3C. A flash point study is required for liquids or solids with low melting points, therefore, this endpoing is waived.
Auto flammability
The melting temperature of 2-Propenoic acid, 2-[[(octadecylamino)carbonyl]oxy]ethyl ester is less than 160 °C therefore the relative self-ignition temperature test was not undertaken.
Flammability
In an EU A.10 Method study, under GLP conditions, 2-Propenoic acid, 2-[[(octadecylamino)carbonyl]oxy]ethyl ester failed to ignite in the preliminary screening test and, therefore, is not highly flammable (Envigo, 2016b).
Explosiveness
In an EU A.14 Method study, under GLP conditions, based on the chemical structure of2-Propenoic acid, 2-[[(octadecylamino)carbonyl]oxy]ethyl esteris predicted to be not explosive (Envigo, 2016b).
Oxidising properties
In an EU A.174 Method study, under GLP conditions, based on the chemical structure of2-Propenoic acid, 2-[[(octadecylamino)carbonyl]oxy]ethyl esteris predicted to be non oxidising (Envigo, 2016b).
