Additional information

The log Pow of FAT 41045 was demonstrated to be > 6.2 at a pH of ca. 6 by use of a HPLC method (OECD 117). In this study, the test item solution showed one main peak with relative peak area > 5% at a retention time of 121.4 minutes. This retention time was higher than that of DDT, the reference item with the highest retention time and thus the highest log Pow used in this study. The log Pow of DDT is 6.2.

As the solubility in water of FAT 41045/A TE was determined to be < 0.06 mg/L, its solubility in 1-octanol was not determined. The latter determination would not have resulted in a definite finding for log Pow, using the equation

log Pow= concentration(1-octanol)/ concentration(water).

Therefore, the partition coefficient (Pow) of FAT 41045/A TE was calculated using the program KOWWIN 1.68 (US EPA 2012 Estimation Programs Interface Suite™ for Microsoft® Windows, v 4.10. United States Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, DC, USA), a model calculation based on theoretical fragmentation. This calculation gave an estimated log Pow of 7.5210.
