Description of key information

LC50 (10 d) > 7023.1 mg a.i./kg dw for Corophium volutator (OSPARCOM 1995)
NOEC (10 d) = 651.3 mg a.i./kg dw

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 or LC50 for marine water sediment:
7 023.1 mg/kg sediment dw
EC10, LC10 or NOEC for marine water sediment:
615.3 mg/kg sediment dw

Additional information

The toxicity ofReaction products of D-Glucose, n-Butanol and C10-12 (even numbered) alcohols towards sediment organisms was investigated in a short-term study with the endobenthic marine amphipod Corophium volutator (AnalyCen ecotox, 2004). The test was performed according to GLP and PARCOM guideline: Sediment bioassay using an amphipod Corophium sp. (Draft 1994). At test termination after 10 days, an LC50 of > 7023.1 mg a. i./kg sediment dw and a NOEC of 615.3 mg a.i./kg sediment dw resulted based on the mortality.

Long-term data do not have to be generated because of the low to moderate log Koc (-2.207 to 3.241) and the ready biodegradability of the test substance.
