The measurements were carried out over many days. The chronologically observed phenomena, as well as the room temperature and atmospheric pressure, are listed in the following table attached (see attached background material).

The Auto-Ignition temperature measured for heptanoic acid was 275°C ± 5°C.
Executive summary:

The Auto-Ignition temperature of n-heptanoic acid was determinated in compliance with Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 , part A.15 Auto-Ignition Temperature (Liquids and gases) according to NF T 20-037.

The auto-ignition temperature is the lowest temperature at which the substance will ignite when mixed with air under the conditions defined in the test method. The test has been done between the following temperatures: 390 -270°C. The Auto-Ignition temperature measured for n-heptanoic acid was 275°C ± 5°C at room temperature (18 -23°C) and at 999 mBar.
